About Level Up Productivity

A teacher and a construction manager testing the software that runs your work, with real screenshots, honest opinions, and plain-English verdicts.

Why we started

Choosing software is harder than it should be. Pricing pages are confusing, free trials end before you’ve learned the tool, and most “reviews” read like ads.

We started Level Up Productivity to be the site we wanted when we were choosing tools ourselves: hands-on testing, real screenshots, and a straight answer about who each tool is for. We’re a family team, and we bring the habits from our day jobs to every review: clear explanations and a solid process.

Who we are

Carissa: Research, testing, and writing

Carissa is a teacher, and it shows in how she writes. She has a knack for breaking complicated things into simple steps, which is exactly what a good software review needs. She does the hands-on testing, takes the screenshots, and writes the first draft of each review.

Joel: Strategy, SEO, and partnerships

Joel works in construction management, where processes, schedules, and finishing on time are the whole job. He brings that same eye for process to the site: he decides which tools we review, keeps the plan on track, and does the final edit on every article.

Carissa and Joel both hold degrees, and our son helps with our social media.

Our standards

  • Hands-on testing. We use every tool we review. If we only researched a tool and didn’t test it, we say so.

  • Our own screenshots. Images in our reviews come from our own accounts.

  • Honest opinions. We include real cons in every review, and we’ll tell you when a cheaper or free option is good enough.

  • Quality over quantity. We publish fewer, more thorough reviews rather than lots of thin ones.

  • Kept current. We note when a review was last updated and revisit it when tools change.
