If you've looked into selling a course, building an email list, or putting up your first sales funnel, you've probably seen the monthly bills stack up. A funnel builder here, an email tool there, a course platform on top. Systeme.io's pitch is simple: put all of it in one account and start for $0.

We're Joel and Carissa. Joel works in construction management and Carissa is a teacher, so we care about tools that save time and don't need a developer. Below we cover what Systeme.io does, where it falls short, what it really costs, and how it compares with ClickFunnels, Kajabi, and Kit (formerly ConvertKit), so you can decide if it fits your situation.

Quick take: Systeme.io is the best value we've found for beginners and solo creators who want funnels, email, and a course in one place. The free plan is real and doesn't expire. The trade-offs are plain-looking pages, tight limits on the lower plans, and a strict no-refund policy on paid plans.

Our test: Sign-up took us about 4.5 minutes, and Systeme.io never asked for a credit card. There was no plan picker; the account landed straight on the Free plan.

Key Features

Here are the parts most people will actually use.

1. Sales funnel builder

You build funnels (opt-in page, sales page, checkout, thank-you page) from templates in a drag-and-drop editor. Systeme.io's features page lists A/B split testing of pages, one-click upsells, order bumps, and countdown timers.

Our test: We built a teacher-checklist opt-in to test it. The "Build an audience" goal created an opt-in page and a thank-you page for us, and we had a basic page live in about 4 minutes. Turning the free template into something we'd show readers took about 7 more minutes. We deleted lots of extra sections, retyping text stripped its icons and colors, and drag-and-drop was unreliable. Mobile needed its own fixes, since desktop and mobile use separate hero elements. The thank-you page was blank by default; applying and editing a template took about 3 minutes.

2. Email marketing with unlimited sends

Every plan, including Free, includes unlimited email sends: broadcasts, automated sequences, tags, and segments. Because your list lives in the same account as your funnels, a new sign-up can be tagged and sent a welcome email automatically, with no Zapier needed.

Systeme.io polices sending closely. According to FunnelTier (citing Systeme.io's help center), a new account's first email goes to 100 contacts, then sending pauses for a few minutes to six hours while stats are checked. Imports can also trigger a review, so don't plan a launch email for day one.

Our test: Our welcome email went out about 2 seconds after a test sign-up and landed in the Gmail inbox (Promotions tab), not spam. We only emailed one test contact, so we didn't hit the new-account pause; a bigger first send may behave differently.

Heads-up: you need your own domain to send. Systeme.io only sends from a domain you've authenticated; a Gmail address isn't enough (see our domain-email walkthrough and tip 1 below). Adding 3 CNAME records and 1 DMARC record took us a few minutes, and the domain showed as verified about 9 minutes later. If you've never edited DNS or don't own a domain, this is a real hurdle.

3. Automations

Automations use a simple "trigger, then action" setup: someone opts in, so they get a tag and a welcome email; someone buys, so they're enrolled in a course. The catch is limits: Free allows just 1 automation rule and 1 tag. Startup raises that, and Unlimited removes the cap.

Systeme.io automation rule: when the opt-in form is submitted, add the checklist-optin tag and send the welcome email

Our rule saved without trouble, and its History tab logs each action per contact, but not delivery. Contacts who opted in before we added the email step didn't get it retroactively.

4. Online courses and communities

You can host video lessons and downloads, drip content, lock modules until earlier ones are done, track student progress, and sell access through a funnel so enrollment is automatic. There's also a built-in community area, similar to a simple Skool or Circle.

The Free plan's limits page inside our account lists 1 course and 500 students. Startup raises that to 5 courses with unlimited students.

5. Website and blog

You can build a multi-page site with a blog and a custom domain, even on Free. Fine for a simple site; if design matters a lot, read the cons.

6. Your own affiliate program

Unusual at this price: you can run an affiliate program for your products on every plan, including Free, with commission settings and tracked referrals.

7. The extras

There's also a booking calendar, evergreen webinars (Webinar plan and up), physical product sales, a link-in-bio "creator store," a CRM pipeline, SMS in automations, unlimited sub-accounts, and Stripe and PayPal connections. Systeme.io takes 0% transaction fees (Stripe and PayPal still charge theirs). FunnelTier reports an official MCP server, added in 2026, that lets AI assistants like ChatGPT or Claude work inside your account on every plan.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • A genuinely free plan. No credit card, no expiry, and 2,000 contacts, 3 funnels, 1 course, and 1 custom domain.
  • Unlimited email sends on every plan.
  • 0% transaction fees from Systeme.io on your sales.
  • One login for funnels, email, courses, a blog, and checkout.
  • Your own affiliate program, even on Free.
  • Low paid prices. Even the top plan ($97/month) costs about what ClickFunnels charges for its entry plan.
  • Fast to get started. We had a live opt-in page in about 4 minutes.
  • Simple automations. Our welcome email reached the inbox about 2 seconds after sign-up.

Cons

  • Paid plans aren't refundable (case by case only, per the help center). Use Free as your trial.
  • Tight limits on lower plans. Free has 1 automation rule, 1 tag, and 1 email campaign. FunnelTier reports over-limit paid accounts are auto-upgraded after a 3-day warning.
  • Fiddly page editor. Desktop and mobile needed separate edits, and drag-and-drop was unreliable. Other reviewers also find templates dated.
  • Sending requires your own domain. A Gmail address won't work; you'll need DNS records.
  • The opt-in form was occasionally finicky. One test submission didn't register, and once it kept an earlier address (possibly browser autofill).
  • Basic analytics and email. Reviewers note there's no email A/B split testing and limited reporting, and we didn't find an email stats page during testing.
  • Migration help can be slow. It's free on annual and Unlimited plans, but some Trustpilot and Capterra users report waiting weeks.
  • Hard to leave with your pages. Contacts and transactions export as CSV, but FunnelTier found no documented export for funnels, pages, or courses.
  • Email support only. No live chat or phone, according to reviewers.

Support

Systeme.io support contact page confirming our request, noting 24/7 support with an average response time of 2 hours

We tested support with one real question (can you use a custom domain on the free plan?) sent through the contact form at 6:45 PM Eastern on a Sunday. A person replied in just under 2 hours, still on Sunday evening, with a clear yes, the exact menu path, and an offer to set up the DNS for us for free, which matches the 24/7, 2-hour-average support they advertise.

The short version: - Systeme.io vs ClickFunnels: At $97/month, Systeme.io Unlimited has no contact cap and unlimited sends; ClickFunnels Launch caps you at 10,000 contacts and 50,000 emails a month. ClickFunnels wins on refunds (30-day guarantee), team seats, and design polish. - Systeme.io vs Kajabi: Kajabi is the premium option from $179/month, more polished for courses and community, but over 10 times Systeme.io's Startup plan. Hard to justify when you're starting out. - Systeme.io vs Kit: For a newsletter only, Kit's free plan (up to 10,000 subscribers) is excellent, though Kit's help center says automated sequences need a paid plan. Once you want funnels, a checkout, and a course, Systeme.io does more for less.

Who Systeme.io Is For (and Who It's Not For)

Systeme.io is a great fit if you are:

  • A beginner who wants to sell a course, coaching, or a download without paying upfront.
  • A solo creator or side business with fewer than about 10,000 contacts.
  • An affiliate marketer who needs landing pages and unlimited email in one cheap place.
  • A teacher, coach, or consultant turning what you know into a simple course or lead magnet.
  • Anyone tired of paying for several separate tools and connecting them with Zapier.

Systeme.io is probably NOT for you if:

  • You need a refund window. ClickFunnels and Kajabi both offer 30-day guarantees.
  • Design is central to your brand and you want pixel-perfect pages.
  • You run a team that needs defined seats and permissions.
  • You need advanced email, like A/B tested subject lines, detailed reporting, or branching automations.
  • You can't afford an email pause during a launch (see the new-account checks above).

Get It Right the First Time: Our Setup Tips

We hit a few snags while testing. Here's what we'd do if we started over.

  1. Authenticate your domain before you write any emails. Our Gmail sender showed "Verified," but Systeme.io still said, "To send emails from this email address, you need to authenticate its domain," and the sender dropdown stayed empty. Add the 4 DNS records first. It took us about 9 minutes to verify. Our step-by-step walkthrough →
  2. Set up the thank-you page first. It's blank by default, and subscribers see "This page is displayed because a thank you page was not defined." Applying and editing the "Thank you!" template took us about 3 minutes.
  3. Edit text through the gear panel. Text isn't edited inline. Change words carefully rather than retyping whole blocks, because retyping stripped our icons and colors.
  4. Edit desktop and mobile separately. The headline, button, and hero have separate desktop and mobile versions, so check both previews before you publish.
  5. Fix the template's contrast. Our free template had a dark purple headline on a dark photo. A solid navy background with white text was much easier to read.
  6. Add the email action before you share your opt-in. People who signed up before we added the email step never got it.
  7. Plan around the free plan's 1 rule and 1 tag. One rule can hold more than one action. Ours added a tag and sent the welcome email.
  8. Test with a fresh address in a private window. Once, the form kept an address we'd typed earlier (possibly autofill), and one test sign-up didn't register at all. Check the contact list and the rule's History tab after each test.

Systeme.io Pricing (Checked October 25, 2026)

Plans are priced mainly by contacts. All prices are from systeme.io/pricing.

Plan Price (monthly) Contacts Sales funnels Courses Notable extras
Free $0 2,000 3 1 1 blog, 1 custom domain, 1 automation rule, 1 email campaign
Startup $17/mo 5,000 10 5 Higher automation and tag limits
Webinar $47/mo 10,000 50 20 Evergreen webinars
Unlimited $97/mo Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited Unlimited automation rules, free migration

Every plan includes: unlimited email sends and sub-accounts, 0% transaction fees, your own affiliate program, Stripe and PayPal, and 24/7 email support.

Annual billing: Paying yearly gets "2 months free" plus free migration from another platform.

Fine print: Paid plans are non-refundable (case by case, per the help center). If you cancel, you keep your plan until the next billing date, then drop to Free. Our account's limits page lists a $10,000 sales revenue limit on Free. Over-limit paid accounts can be auto-upgraded after a 3-day warning.

Our advice: Start on Free, build your full funnel there, and only pay when a limit actually stops you.

Final Verdict: Is Systeme.io Worth It?

Yes, for most beginners and solo creators. Systeme.io is the cheapest serious way we've found to run funnels, email, and a course from one account. On Free you can build a real opt-in funnel, grow a list to 2,000 contacts, and sell a course without paying anything. Outgrow it, and $17 or $47 a month is still far below ClickFunnels or Kajabi.

It isn't perfect. Pages look plainer than on premium platforms, the lower plans have tight automation limits, sending needs your own domain, and the no-refund policy means you should test thoroughly on Free first. Export your contacts regularly, and don't schedule a big launch on a brand-new account.

Systeme.io gives beginners a genuinely usable free plan, but the editor took patience and the domain setup for email will trip up newcomers. Great value once it's set up, just budget an afternoon for the learning curve.

Our rating: 4/5
